Hello!
I hope you have fun creating for me, and I’m very excited to see what you make!
I am really sorry about how disjointed this letter is and that it took me so long to finish.
I’m sure I will love whatever you create, so please don’t feel boxed in by these suggestions.
They are simply me throwing out as many likes as I can think of for your inspiration. If the story takes you in another direction, go for it!

General likes for The Silmarillion:
• Mixing Silm canon with HoME canon (I will happily read works based on any parts of HoME, from the earliest to the “almost exactly the same as published SIlm, and love when different parts get mixed and matched with each other and with published Silm. Basically I’m not at all a stickler, big fan of “expansive canon.” It’s especially fun when strange or interesting lines from HoME are expanded upon and taken to their full implications. It’s also fun when the in universe historical accuracy of the Silm or other documents is questioned, and we get to see the historical bias at work or see what was left out or exaggerated or worked around in canon and why.
•Song power, also exploration of anything and everything to do with music in Arda
•Exploration of the roles and powers of the Ainur in Arda

My number one like for smuttier fic is probably a focus on desire/lust/pining.
Explanation of Other M-E Rated Content:
If it’s checked off for your fandom, what I had in mind for Other M-E Rated Content was difficult psychological circumstance/psychological crises, things that are not necessarily rooted in any trauma/violence, and that may even eventually create positive growth. That doesn’t make them any less heart wrenching in the moment though. I’m not sure if these things on their own would be considered M+ rated or not (after all, angsty-ness doesn’t automatically make an M+ rating,) but it’s something to consider and I imagine it would depend on how it is written. I don’t know. Anyway, here are some specific examples, if you have other ideas of a somewhat similar nature you are welcome to use those instead:
Characters questioning or losing their previously held worldviews and beliefs (ontological shock) :
It could be religious faith or any deeply held belief. I would love to see beliefs slowly crumbling as little by little the character gets less sure or ticked off by specific things, the fear of the unknown and existential fear, the horror of their treasured beliefs crumbling, not trusting their own mind anymore after realizing how easy it is to get stuck within a particular perspective, feeling alone, feeling trapped and not knowing what to do, having a very difficult time trying to live everyday life while inside their mind they’re thinking about all that they’ve lost, being afraid to stand behind ideas anymore for fear that they’ll lose them, or, perhaps worse, not be able to lose them when they really should, etc. If you choose to go this route maybe the lover of whoever’s experiencing the crisis could provide some form of comfort. Relatedly, identity crisis/loss of identity, where a character feels like they’re no longer themselves or have lost an extremely important part of themselves (for whatever reason, which could be because of a traumatic/violent event if you want, or because of the normal progression of life) would also be wonderful. Grappling with identity loss, being angry at it, feeling grief over who they once were, holding on too tightly, trying to move forward.
Internalized homophobia could also fall under the category of difficult emotional circumstances. I know it took me many years to not feel torn between my feelings and my family’s beliefs, so much metaphorical tearing my hair out, going back and forth and reading different perspectives and just wanting to escape and not have to take a side, not have to think about it anymore. Going through different arguments all the time, that deeply uncomfortable feeling of being torn between different ideas and drifting towards one or the other but not being sure why, of course the disconnect between what people say around you and what you feel in your body, thinking you couldn’t possibly be loved in such a way; automatically assuming that no one could possibly felt the same, finally deciding they will no longer tolerate being upset about their desires, that it’s far too much unnecessary heartache and the freedom and lightness that comes from that, and more.
Please don’t read into the long length of this section that I want this the most; I would be equally happy with a fic of any emotional make-up, including something lighthearted, involving (consensual) sex. Something involving both sex and psychological crises would also be great.
The Silmarillion:
Miriel/Vairë the Weaver
I had never thought about this pairing before, but I adore the Valier, and this is such an interesting premise, so I’m sure anything for this pairing will be wonderful! Maybe Vairë helps Miriel to psychologically heal after her death? What exactly caused Miriel to die— and how can she heal? It’s supposedly because Fëanor zapped her energy but also seems like a mental health problem. And what does healing look like for her? Maybe it’s not that Miriel couldn’t return to life—it’s that she didn’t want to, because she fell in love and found work that she’s passionate about in the Halls, beyond the drama and constant scrutiny that is the royal family. Something with Vairë teaching Miriel to weave, and Miriel’s growing fascination with it (and with Vairë?) Worldbuilding and expansion of canon regarding the nature of the Halls would also be wonderful. What exactly is inside them? I was always fascinated by the idea of doors as portals that lead to places it doesn’t make sense for them to lead- what if the interior of the Halls included something like that, with doors that lead to (a version of) a variety of different landscapes? Having the two of them explore the bounds of history— and, in a sense, create it— would also be fascinating, and I would love some discussions on historical bias, different parts and perspectives to a story, what is included vs left out, difference between lived experience and historical records etc. Also, what’s it like for Miriel to go from living a life to being beyond it and looking at it in the context of all the lives that ever were? Is it mind boggling?
Elemmire//Lalwen:
Elemmire’s status as a master poetess is interesting. Maybe Elemmire is reading Lalwen a bunch of lovey-dovey poems (that she wrote about her,) and then at some point Lalwen interrupts her to be like, “Please. Just let me have you now.” Or alternately, the poems are more erotic and are specifically designed to have this effect. Alternately, it could be a mutual pining situation where Elemmire could be reading poems about her desire for *someone* and Lalwen who is pining thinks it’s someone else and Elemmire is like “How are you not getting the message?” and so they both assume the other is not interested and hjinks ensue but eventually they realize they both fancy each other and get together. I don’t know. Or something completely unrelated to the poetry thing...
It could also be post-Darkening and could be kind of angsty and dramatic with potentially witnessing the death of the trees first hand and trying to find each other in the dark, and having to say goodbye because one is leaving and the other is staying, but they have one last poignant night together. Or, of course, it could be post-Darkening where they both stay in Valinor and learn to live in such an utterly changed and still grieving society, together. I would be specifically interested in what Elemmire’s role (as a poet) is like after the Darkening— we know she wrote the Aldudenie— so what was that process like, and was Lalwen involved in any way? Or they both go to Beleriand, and who knows what happens then? What do they get up to in Middle-earth? My one request is that I DNW fic taking place during the Crossing of the Helcaraxë, although references to it are fine, if you want to jump forward in time or something. Also, if it’s pre-Darkening, some foreshadowing might be fun.
Melian/Ungoliant:
I don’t have a ton of prompts for this pairing. It just seems like a fascinating dynamic. Here you are welcome to have lots or creepiness be part of the M-E rating, but please no gory violence. Also, I read kimaracretak’s “leave me restless, leave me hung” (Link here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14524053?view_adult=true) when I was first starting out in fandom and it made me like this pairing because it was so good:)
Tar-Miriel/Uinen:
This is one of my favorite pairings so you basically can’t go wrong. (Although please don’t read that as this is this is the only one I want, because I’m very excited about the other ones too. It’s just that this is the one I’m most familiar with.) Pretty much any scenario involving these two, at any point in their lives, would be great. Uinen rescuing (or attempting to rescue) Tar-Miriel at the Downfall, Uinen appearing to Tar-Miriel when she’s young and being a source of comfort to her, the two of them escaping and adventuring in the rest of Nùmenor or in the water while Tar-Miriel is stuck being married to Pharazon, some sort of political scheming or planning or even just complaining, some sort of religious ritual (maybe a sexual one) or any kind of ritual, or, relatedly, Tar-Miriel is praying to Uinen and then, to her surprise and wonderment she actually gets an answer. The possibilities are endless!
Nessa/Vána: As I have said before, I adore the Valier, and I like Valier femslash most of all! These two are some of the “less important” Valier, so it could be interesting to see what they were doing. Plus their powers/specializations kind of fit together. I headcanon the Valar as able to shapeshift between all life (not just humanoids) if you want to do anything with that. If you want additional inspiration + a rec, Dancing Through New Light by Ludovica is AMAZING: https://archiveofourown.org/works/2361497
Varda/Ungoliant:
What would it be like between the devourer of light and a creator of lights? Again, it seems like an interesting dynamic, I don’t have particular prompts, except maybe it would take place in the early days before everyone’s roles were so sharply defined, or right as they were starting to be, while the world was still being created? Or something different, I don’t know.
Galadriel/Lúthien:
They were both headstrong, adventurous women, and they must have known each other. What did they get up to in Doriath? I don’t have any additional prompts.
Erendis/Uinen:
Many of the Tar-Miriel/Uinen prompts could also apply here. Erendis is such a fascinating character and there are not enough fics about her. Her story could be held to, or it could be fun to subvert it and kind of change the meaning. Here’s a rec/inspiration, Sea-Queen by Narya: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16176644/chapters/37798565
As You Like It:
I would love something showing their closeness and loyalty to each other. Maybe when their at home, sleeping in the same bed and doing everything together, or maybe when they run off to the forest together. I would love something fun and fairly lighthearted.
Although if you have an angsty-er idea that could be great too, like maybe Serious Conversations about what they wish they had and being angry at how the world works, or maybe unrequited pining and masturbating thinking about the other, I’m always with you but not in the way I want sort of scenario... etc.
Maybe the two could go on some sort of adventures and/or have banter with each other, but which also shows the depth of their relationship. Outdoor sex maybe? Maybe one surprises the other with a wild plan/date/adventure and leads the other there blindfolded or without her knowing where they’re going? Maybe interesting conversations between the two as they lie in bed in the middle of the night, unable to sleep (or something) about their lives and what they want from them? In canon it’s interesting the way they decide to escape together, it could be sort of a prelude to that. I don’t know, I would love pretty much any scenario with these two, (I’m not especially attached to the ones I wrote, they’re just a few suggestions of the top of my head, so I’d love any of those or anything you come up with,) especially one that has a playful element and also shows their deep devotion to each other.
The Half of It:
Ellie Chu/Original Character(s):
What is it like for Ellie at college? Does she get homesick? Does she like being away from her father, or, perhaps more likely, a mix of the two? Does she finally feel like she’s not alone anymore, does she find like-minded people? Does she make friends? Does she love certain classes, do they make her think in exciting ways? Does she find other girl(s) who can actually like her back without any angsty worrying on their part? I would love pretty much anything about Ellie in college, especially where she’s generally happy although bitter-sweetness would be great too, falling in lust or love with others there and just generally feeling more free, if that makes sense.
Aster Flores/Original Character(s):
My prompts for this are pretty similar to my prompts for Ellie/OFC(s,) tbh. Although for Aster it would probably have to be angsty-er, involving coming to terms with her queerness more fully, as she doesn’t seem to be fully out to herself in the film. This would be a great place for the working through internalized homophobia suggestion that’s in other m-e rated content section, if you want. Or just self discovery in general, trying to find herself, and what she likes and what she wants from her life.
Ellie Chu/Aster Flores:
Do they meet much later, after much has changed in their lives and maybe they’ve both already had a few relationships? Where and how do they meet (I don’t really know?) What are the dynamics like between them now? Is there some nostalgia and tenderness for what they have meant for each other? Or are they ready to move past that time in their life but (re-)fall for each other anyway? Alternately, does Ellie-in-college still think about Aster regularly, with the intensity that comes with first or early crushes? I always love pining and (semi) unrequited love and masturbation, if you want to go that route. Is Ellie looking back on the whole Aster scenario, does she think about it a lot, in amazement or curiosity? What is is like for Aster immediately after the movie ends? What’s it like in her head, is she bitter and sad that she won’t see Ellie for a while, and right after they kissed? Is she glad about it, not wanting to deal with her latent queerness, but then can’t get Ellie out of her head? Something totally different? I would love basically anything to do with these characters, required or unrequited, especially involving self-discovery of some form on one or both of their parts.
The Lord of the Rings:
Goldberry/Lady of the Blue Brooch:
I really love Goldberry, especially when she’s written as eldritch and strange and maybe more than a little bit creepy, but also loving and bright (if that makes sense.) It’s especially fun when she can turn into water/shapeshift/become one with the landscape. It might be interesting if the Lady is from a human culture painted as evil or not really explored in canon, like Harad or somewhere off the map, and if there could be some worldbuilding involving that. How did Goldberry meet the Lady? What brings the Lady to Goldberry’s part of the world? What if Goldberry was totally shameless and kept appearing naked in the water when the Lady was trying to rinse off (or anywhere really— in the forest while it’s raining, in her house from the sink, etc. That could be sort of humorous.) Or just generally if Goldberry kept trying to seduce the Lady, (not necessarily related to the water thing,) that would be fun. Or, if you want to reverse it with the Lady somehow seducing Goldberry that would be cool too. Maybe the Lady is super “scientifically” fascinated by how Goldberry works, and then ends up developing actual feelings for her? Was there a power imbalance? Did the Lady worship Goldberry (sexually, emotionally, by doing things for her, in actual religious rituals, etc.)? What is the significance of the brooch? Where does it come from, why and how did the Lady give it to Goldberry? Did the two of them go on any sort of adventures (like, I don’t even know, rushing through the river held up by Goldberry like it’s a water park ride, exploring the land around them, entering into memories together if you want to make that something Goldberry is capable of, or something fun and totally different from all of these. Basically I love adventuring.) The fic could take place in the present with the two being in love/lust, or it could also be Goldberry holding the brooch and grieving for her (presumably dead) lover and going through memories in her mind.
Goldberry/Célebrian:
Many of the Goldberry/Lady of the Blue Brooch prompts could apply here. It could also involve Goldberry comforting Célebrian after her torture, before she leaves for Valinor... or just the two of them meeting at any point.
Original Work:
I don’t have any additional prompts for these, sorry. I just picked all the ones that looked fun and like they had a lot of potential, and I’m sure I’ll love whatever you make with them. If you included a few elements from my Likes up above that would be lovely.

Ellie Chu/Original Character(s):
Aster Flores/Original Character(s):
